Hi - Are these foreign exchange sums right? Do they make sense - Thanks?
If a person has put 100,000 for example into a bank in USA on 1st June 2001 the exchange rate was $1.3664 for 1. 1.3664 x 100,000 $136,640On November 1st 2007 the exchange rate was 2.0655.That is a time period of 6 years ignoring all other factors If the person took that same amount out of U.S Bank and back into UK in november 1st 2007 at the exchange rate was 2.0655.Converting $136,640 back into GBP $136,640 2.0655 66,153.5So the original 100,000 66,153.5 33,846.5In 6 years the 100,000 has lost 33,846.5 and is now only worth 66,153.5.Is this right? ignoring all other factors Thanks in advance.
