What is the most durable case for an amazon kindle fire?

Amazon Kindle problem. Please help?
For Christmas of 2010, I received an Amazon Kindle 3 from my parents. In May of 2011, something went wrong with the screen. Grey Horizontal bars ran all the way across the screen and were visible when the kindle was completely turned off. I had never dropped my Kindle, and it was in perfect condition. I contacted Amazon customer service and they sent me a replacement free of charge. I was extremely careful with my new kindle. It barely left my house. I didn't want the same thing to happen to it. But tonight, February 2012, I turned my kindle on to read it, and the screen was just like my old Kindle's had been last may, except worse. Now it was a mix of vertical and horizontal bars all over the screen and the screensaver had been halfway burnt into the text. You can't read past it. It's impossible. My question is, if Amazon has replaced my Kindle once, will they replace it again? I don't have the extended warranty. Like I said, my kindle was in perfect condition and was literally treated like it was a newborn baby. Help? Ten points to best answer.

About the Amazon Kindle App?
This may be a stupid question, but if you have the kindle app, but don't have a kindle, can you still buy books on amazon and read them from the kindle app? Any and all answers are appreciated The app would be on an android, if that matters.

Does the Amazon Kindle have a poor ebook selection?
I recently got a Kindle Fire and was pretty excited to have a convenient way to read books. However, I was immediately disappointed after searching their bookstore. I looked for some of my favorites, such as the Harry Potter series and Jurassic Park, as well as several others, and was surprised that NONE of them were available in the store. I couldn't believe at how many highly popular and well known books that they didn't have. I've had it a month and haven't even bought anything yet because after browsing for books I can't find anything that interests me. It also seems to me like most of the book selection is directed towards a woman's interests, but maybe not. So what do you think? What is the reason for not having certain books? How do you feel about their book selection?

Amazon Kindle recipe book formatting?
This is for people who own a kindle or use a kindle app, and for those familiar with creating a kindle e book with MS Word. I am writing a recipe book, and I am curious as to whether I should put a page break after each recipe? Will it be more readable that way? I know you're supposed to do one after each paragraph, but obviously I'm not writing a novel or a how to book. Just wanted some opinions on this, the more the better
